If you are always protected, and never have to endure the small things in life, then you will never grow and get tough, and be able to go through the hard things.
I don’t mean tough as in gruff, mean, and isolated. I am talking about strong, sturdy, and not easily defeated, you are able to persevere.
When an athlete is training for an event, they train for a level higher than what is needed; that way their body is conditioned and ready for the event that is to come. They know they will have no problems doing what is needed. They are conditioned and ready for what is to come. They know what to do, and what not to do, based on past experiences.
Plants go through a process called “hardening”. If they do not go through this process, and aclimate to the weather and the conditions around them, then they would not be able to survive the elements, and whatever may come their way. If a plant has not slowly been introduced to bad weather, then when a storm comes, it will break.
Calluses form on our hands and feet to protect them.
The situations that you are going through are preparing you for what is to come. These aren’t meant to break you, but to make you stronger. Keep pushing. Keep growing. Keep getting stronger.
Pearls are formed because of an irritant inside an oyster. Your irritants are building up to something beautiful.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” Matthew 13:44-46
The verses in Matthew talk about the kingdom of heaven and how it is something we should seek and give all we have to obtain it. Treasures and pearls are things of value; and so are You.
If I may compare Matthew 13:46 to Jesus and us: Jesus gave his all to buy us from death, He paid the ultimate price to buy you, a “pearl of great price”, a pearl of worth.
You have worth, you have value, you are beautiful, you are wanted, and Jesus loves you.
“Thank you Jesus for seeing the worth in me when I do not see it. Help me to continue to grow through these little things that are preparing me for what is to come. I thank you for this beautiful journey that you have me on. In Jesus’ name.”
