Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
The Lord equips us for where He needs us. He trains us up for the perfect moment.
David was just a boy tending his father’s sheep when he had to deal with a bear and a lion. This ended up being training for facing a giant, Goliath. Killing the bear and lion grew David’s faith for this moment. He knew God would be with him.
I love learning different things. In high school a second language class is required, so I took Spanish classes (I can’t tell you much about it now). Recently I have been learning American Sign Language (ASL). I really enjoy it. It is fun, and I think, it is easy to learn.
The reason I started learning is because there is a deaf couple in our church, and a few of us rotate signing the worship songs and the preaching. One night it was my turn to sign worship, and we were doing a new song. This particular song had a few spanish verses in it. It was a BIG help being able to understand what I was reading/signing.
You can listen to the song here.
So at this moment I find myself in a 3-step process:
-Reading the Spanish verses
-Understanding it in English
-Signing the understood English into ASL
Doing all of this at the same time definitely works the mind!
I know this may seem like a small thing, but I was really pleased with myself, and so grateful I took Spanish in high school, being able to understand the Spanish words so I could sign them in English. (Another person has signed this song since then, and they didn’t know what to do because they didn’t know the Spanish).
God knows what He has planned for us and prepares us for the future. I’m sure I might have been able to figure it out, but knowing what is going on helps tremendously!
Whatever you are going through now, whether good or bad, God is preparing you for your future.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
