Every day is a day to be thankful, but since today is Thanksgiving, I want to talk about something that is dear to me. My children.
I have been blessed with two wonderful daughters. Of course like most toddlers they don’t listen about half the time, but they are so sweet and thoughtful of each other and others. When they say “please” and “thank you” it is some of the cutest manners you have ever heard! They have brought so much joy into our lives!
One thing that I am most thankful for is the example that has been set before my children from my husband, myself and others at church. My daughters at 1.5 and 3 years old pray for each other. They have a desire to pray for others. During altar call at church, my 3yr old asks me to go up front with her so that she can pray for others. I know at 3 she doesn’t do much “serious” praying, that’s not what it is about right now. What is important is the instilling of the importance of prayer and praying for others. Imagine the faith that is growing in her! It melts my heart watching my children worship the Lord.
Another thing that my children do is, when our Pastor asks if anyone needs prayer to come up front, they want to go pray for their “boo-boos”. When children are little, what seems small to us is a big thing to them. If they seek prayer now for their “big” things, then when they are older they will pray and seek God for answers to their problems.
All of this reminds me of the scripture: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6. My prayer daily is that I do what is right by them and that I am the best mother that I can be, and seeing my children blossom before my eye is such a blessing.
To see my children growing in the Lord is such a wonderful thing, and the joy they bring to others makes me so happy. The hugs and kisses they shower others with are impossible to count. The love they have for each other is overwhelming.
“Jesus I thank you for the example that you have set before me and my children to follow. I thank you for the love they have in their hearts for others. I pray that their love for you and others continues to grow. I thank you for my children and the blessing that they have been to my life and many others’. I thank you for another day to praise your name!”
